Network International Fosters Payment Innovation with a Mobile SDK

Challenge

Payment services provider Network International (Network) needed a mobile software development kit (SDK) which offloads the handling of sensitive information and makes it easier and faster for partners to integrate with their system.

Outcome

The SDK solution seamlessly integrates NI’s back-end system with its partners’ mobile applications. It removes the need for partners to deal with sensitive payment information and payment card industry (PCI) scope, and negates their need to acquire additional developer knowledge and operational processes.

Network International offers a robust suite of payment products and services, developed from cutting-edge technologies. In 2023, they processed USD 59+ billion in total processed volumes (TPV) for more than 120K merchants and handled over 1.6 billion issuer transactions on 18+ million cards for over 200 financial institutions.

 

The SDK is essential to their continued growth and success and their mission to remain at the forefront of innovation.

A cross-platform configurable secure payment system

This innovative SDK has delivered the following performance improvements:

  • 4-6x less effort – now, rather than building functionality from scratch, mobile integration requires four to six times less effort for sensitive data.
  • 3-month delivery – using a hybrid agile methodology aligning with Network’s process and needs, the mobile SDK was built and tested within three months.
  • Increased functionality – including display/hiding of card details, PIN management, customisable user interface (UI) and multilanguage support including Arabic.
  • Cross-platform support – for iOS, Android and React Native
  • Multiple integration choices – from an API-driven, programmatic interface to a highly configurable UI.
  • PCI-DSS compliant decryption and encryption – from Network’s back-end systems, without the need for a third-party application or HSMs.

Once completed, the SDK was packaged, documented and published on public package repositories for easy access, improved dependency management and increased availability of the mobile SDK for Network partners.

Our engagement with Endava allowed Network International to use their talent to resolve a key blocker for onboarding new FinTechs (and banks) to the complex payment ecosystem. Often, our partners face challenges in dealing with security recommendations, such as PCI-DSS. The Mobile SDK allowed us to provide them with a solution that completely alleviates this issue. The engagement model was very efficient with tight management of timelines and flexibility in the scope. Overall, Endava's quality and commitment to delivery allowed a successful implementation.

  • Encourage the onboarding of issuers (banks or financial institutions) resulting in 100% adoption of the mobile SDK.
  • Avoid hosting sensitive card data in the partner mobile application (PIN, PAN, CVV).

  • Reduce the time to access sensitive payment information, such as card numbers and PINs.
