Challenge

One of the world’s largest small-group travels sought to transition to a new content management system. With more than 25,000 web pages across various sits, it needed support to make the transition smoothly.

Outcome

Through extensive user testing and engagement, the collaborative team curated a more easily digestible content experience for users, improving page load and SEO returns.

As one of the largest small-group travel companies in the world, this organisation offers more than 1,100 local tours in over 100 countries. To cater for such a large audience base, it has 14 regional versions of the main website and many sub-brands and micro-sites, all totaling over 25,000 web pages.

When it determined that it needed to transition to a new content management system (CMS), it sought expertise to ensure the move was smooth and efficient. The organisation turned to Endava for help.

A roadmap to a robust solution

Through an in-depth discovery process, we created a product strategy and roadmap to guide the client’s transition to ContentStack, which would be scalable across its different regions and sub-brands. It would also be able to account for different languages, brand elements and access to a global network of the client’s content editors.

The release strategy broke down the entire site by business and user value and allowed the client to create components and pages sequentially, releasing them incrementally. This methodology means an immediate return on investment, rather than having to wait for all the work to be completed.

Better, stronger, faster than before

As the project moved through the roadmap, each page and its components underwent user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) development, as well as a content audit process. This allowed the client to improve the usability, aesthetic and consistency of the website continuously, implementing it at the same rate as the new system architecture. Moreover, the auditing process allowed for the team to curate a more easily digestible content experience users, based on extensive user testing and engagement.

The newly implemented system provides improved page load time and also provides better search engine optimisation (SEO) returns over the previous system.

Working side-by-side to tackle a monumental task

Our augmented team, comprised of designers, technical product analysts and developers, worked closely with the client’s delivery team. With several of our team being ContentStack certified, we were able to share insights and advice with the  delivery team, helping them to upskill.

While independently setting sprint goals and objectives, it kept in close communication with the client’s team so their would be consistent in standard and approach
