Surgical Partners Empowers Doctors and Practices With Real-Time Payment Insights

Healthcare and Life Sciences

Challenge

Surgical Partners, an Australian financial administrative platform, sought to empower general practitioners (GPs) with more transparency over payments. It needed strategic and technological expertise to bring its vision for an app to life.

Outcome

With support from Endava, the organisation launched its app, providing payment proof for GPs and streamlining payment processes. The app displays patient fees reconciled with payments from the practice, creating a more cohesive and streamlined financial management system.

Surgical Partners, an Australian fintech organisation specialising in payment reconciliation for medical practices, sought to create a trailblazing app providing GPs with visibility over patient
payments.

In collaboration with our teams, Surgical Partners was able to empower GPs with a streamlined and effective solution for financial management in the healthcare landscape.

Digital solutions to empower GPs

In Australia, the majority of GPs who see patients in medical practice are contractors rather than employees. A percentage of their fee goes to the practice, while the rest is received as income.

While they see the patient, the fees are collected by the practice, leaving GPs without concrete evidence of when patients or third parties settle their fees. The manual reconciliation processes are burdensome and often inefficient. Moreover, payments from third parties can take weeks, while the complexity of reporting earnings to the government complicates things further.

Surgical Partners sought to combat these challenges with a dedicated app, streamlining payment processes.

Our collaboration began with a discovery phase, exploring the needs of GPs and their operational journeys. We worked with real doctors to ensure our solutions were practical and would fit into their daily workflow.

A solid solution architecture was developed and a release roadmap outlined the minimum viable product (MVP) and strategic release of each subsequent feature. Operating as a cohesive squad, we worked with the Surgical Partners team to enhance the design of its existing SaaS platform and built the new app to integrate with the platform. This provided seamless integration of the two to deliver daily financial management for healthcare professionals.

Delivering transparency and driving growth

The finished app provides a clear interface displaying patient fees reconciled with payments from the practice. The seamless integration with its existing platform empowers practice managers to efficiently approve reconciliations and distribute payments to GPs, creating a more cohesive and streamlined financial management system for healthcare practices.

We were pleased to support Surgical Partners as it achieved:

  • An increase in market share
  • Reduced onboarding time for doctors to new practices
  • Greater visibility and transparency for GPs around their billing
  • Large reduction in administrative load for practices
