Growing Tourism Through an Enhanced Customer Experience
Challenge
Our client, a domestic airport, wanted to significantly enhance its customer experience by addressing the needs of travelers. To achieve this, a complete redesign and replatforming of its website was required – one that could scale with the business as it grew.
Outcome
We supported the airport to implement a fully responsive platform that enables easy updates and provides passengers with timely information about schedules, parking and more.
Since commencing operations in 1947, this domestic airport has grown to handle over 1.25 million passengers a year, supporting more than 3,300 jobs, and contributing over $1 billion annually to its regional economy.
As a trusted partner since 2019, we have supported the airport to enhance its customer service and infrastructure, boosting regional tourism. With continued efforts to do improve things for travelers, the airport sought our support during a redesign and replatform.
Customer-centric collaboration to empower
Having already worked with the airport on multiple discovery projects together, we conducted qualitative and quantitative research into customer needs and expectations of the airport's facilities and future endeavors. Accessibility was a core focus, guiding the website re-design and re-platforming to ensure a customer-centric end result that could scale seamlessly with the business.
Flying can be a stressful experience, especially for those with health conditions, impairments or families with young children. The redesign focused on creative and intuitive, accessible environment that empowered travellers by providing clear information about facilities and processes.
We also extended our work to enhance the staff experience, considering workflow, process, onboarding and staff needs to understand any gaps and improvements that could be made to improve the employees’ day-to-day lives and streamline tasks.
As a key gateway for the region – home to scenic camping areas, vineyards, V8 supercars, and a variety of music events – promoting tourism was a major focus. We delivered a platform that allowed for easy, rapid content creation and promotion to attract and guide tourists.
Roadmaps chart flight path to growth
Following an in-depth solution architecture analysis of the airport’s existing systems and integrations, a detailed product roadmap, and a robust development engagement, we were able to support the airport with a new platform. This fully responsive solution can scale with the airport.
By providing real-time flight information, parking calculators and updates on regional events, passengers and businesses are always kept in the loop. We look forward to continuing to support this regional airport as it strives to boost tourism and a world-class airport experience.
