ATM Transaction Profiling
Our Customer is a global Superbrand and market leading payments provider. This case study describes the development of ATM Transaction Profiling system - a service that can effectively identify ATM devices that have been targeted for fraud. The project was completed within 1 year by utilising Endava’s UK and Moldova teams.
The Objective
In November 2009, a Leading payments provider engaged with Endava to build a fully functional and completed ATM Transaction Profiling service.
The objective of the service was to identify on a daily basis, suspicious transaction behavior taking place at individual, cross-border ATM devices on client issued cards. Members needed daily information showing every unique ATM that had been classified as suspicious. This insight included details of transactions undertaken at each device for each issuer - highlighting their potential exposure.
The ATM Transaction Profiling system would effectively identify ATM devices that had been targeted for fraud and supply the customer’s members with information that supports their strategies to reduce cross-border ATM fraud. The system would also aid their operations staff in the early identification of fraudulent cross-bored ATM transactions.
The Solution
Endava was selected on the basis of possessing an excellent, track record in financial software development. The project had clear timescales to complete the ATM profiling solution within a very challenging timescale using limited detailed requirements.
By tightly integrating the business and development teams, Endava and our client were able to quickly build a prioritised list of requirements which allowed the build to progress while finer requirements were written. This flexible approach by Endava and our client ensured that the system could be deployed rapidly and provide key business benefits.
Endava and our client’s Central Testing Services had to work very closely on the QA of the site, sharing a test environment, test data and working together to identify and fix last minute defects and changes.
The Results
The product delivered according to the plan and to the required level of quality, despite many challenges and changing requirements. Endava provided the Customer with on-site assistance during the code integration phase.
